These V6 Cars Are Faster Than The New Mustang GT
The Ford Mustang GT is a quick car, but these 10 fabulous V6s offer even more performance.
The Ford Mustang is a true performance car icon. The original pony car changed just about everything when it burst onto the scene in 1964, and it went on to define everything that a muscle car should be. Each new generation of Mustang has had its own admirers and devotees, and a number of models through the years have done enough to become icons in their own right.
In recent times, the Mustang has seen a resurgence in popularity with an upturn in sales and positive appraisals from motoring journalists and consumers. The 2024 Mustang GT should do nothing to quell the positivity surrounding the nameplate, offering stylish design, impressive comfort, and incredible performance from its 5.0-liter, 440 hp V8, managing 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.
While the Mustang GT is, undoubtedly, a desirable prospect, the era of big V8s is coming to an end, and it's time to start looking at smaller engine configurations. In fact, it's completely possible to get the same level of performance, or even more, from a V6 vehicle and we've gathered 10 of our favorites to prove it.

The Nissan 370z — one of the stand-out cars of the legendary Z-car line — is an icon of the automotive industry and the track-inspired Nismo version turned it up to 11; it's a car we'd love to own. The Nismo 370z was equipped with a plethora of high-performance parts including sport-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and a limited-slip differential, and while it was undeniably performance-focused, it did still feature a Bose audio system and a touchscreen infotainment system.
As the majority of gearheads know, when Nissan put their minds into creating a high-performance vehicle, good things happen, and this is only amplified when it gets the Nismo treatment too. The 370z Nismo, equipped with the 350 hp, naturally-aspirated V6, could run 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds, and was electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph.

Porsche's executive sedan brings all of the Stuttgart manufacturer's patented speed, precision, and performance wrapping it up into a sumptuous bundle of luxury and technology. This all comes together to ensure that the car handles with the poise and precision of something half its weight. It's also supremely comfortable and looks good too; Porsche's struck the balance between sporty and sophisticated very well.
We love this car and, in terms of outright performance, the Panamera is leagues ahead of the Mustang. Its twin-turbocharged V6 packs 440 hp, taking it from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and up to a top speed of just over 180 mph. Awe-inspiring speed for a luxury-focused five-door sedan.

Okay, we admit it, this is kind of cheating, but while the incredible Honda NSX is a hybrid, its engine is a V6, so we think it deserves a spot on the list. The second-generation Honda NSX, launched twelve years after the discontinuation of the legendary first-gen car, was just as ground-breaking as its predecessor. Loaded with cutting-edge technology, the NSX is, by any definition, a true supercar.
Really, there's no comparison here. While the Mustang GT is definitely quick, the NSX is on a whole other level. Its combination of a twin-turbo V6 and electric motors produces 573 hp, propelling the car to a top speed of 191 mph and a 0-60 mph time of under 3 seconds. Gearheads should give this one some more love.
