Full Send Diesel's Giveaway Truck Features a 5.9L Cummins Engine - Engine Builder Magazine
Diesel of the Week is presented by
Halloween is nearly here. It’s the time when many people break out the spooky and scary decorations and dress up in fun costumes. But what does that have to do with diesel engines? For this Diesel of the Week, Kevin Kubinak and his crew at Full Send Diesel recently built a 5.9L Cummins for a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie G56 four door short bed. This truck is part of a giveaway from the shop. Outfitted in a black exterior and orange engine, this truck is sure to give you all the Halloween feels. More on that later.
We last featured Full Send Diesel in our Diesel of the Week series back in 2020. The shop was founded by Kubinak in 2018. At that time, he was an active member in the Marine Corps, running a small operation in his barracks room with a vise on the floor and small storage bins for his hardware.
When modifying his truck, Kubinak wanted to design and make his own parts that were better than what he found on the market. He eventually started offering the parts he made to the public, and now, Full Send Diesel operates in a 9,000 square-foot facility in Lewisburg, PA.
The shop doesn’t just make parts for Cummins engines; it also makes parts for Duramax and Powerstroke builds. Today, Full Send Diesel has hundreds of dealers that sell its parts across the U.S. and Canada, including Diesel Power Products, Power Driven Diesel, Pure Diesel Power, XDP, and more. On top of making its own parts for diesel engines, the shop also sells parts from other brands around the diesel industry.
Building trucks for giveaways has become a big deal for Full Send Diesel. All customers have to do to enter the giveaway is buy something from Full Send Diesel’s website. Whether that’s merchandise or engine parts, any purchase will count as an entry into winning one of the trucks.
That brings us back to this week’s Diesel of the Week, which is Full Send Diesel’s truck giveaway for the first half of October 2024. The giveaway is open from October 4 through October 15, and the aforementioned 5.9L Cummins diesel engine is no slouch in this 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie G56.
Almost all the engine parts in this build were either supplied or manufactured by Full Send Diesel. The shop did use some engine parts that came with the truck when they acquired it. The odometer said the truck had around 224,000 miles on it before Full Send Diesel’s 5.9L Cummins was installed.
Starting with the turbo, this engine is sporting a Forced Inductions billet S472/87/1.0 T4 with 150% over injectors. A 5” turbo back exhaust that came with the truck is also featured, and braided turbo feed and drain lines help it run smoothly.
Regarding fueling components, the 5.9L Cummins has a 12mm highspeed CP3 that came with the truck and a Fleece fuel filter delete. OE injection lines help the fuel flow, and FASS Diesel Fuel Systems supplied one of its sump kits for the build.
ARP head studs were installed, along with a D&J billet valve cover and D&J billet grid heater delete. The transmission shifts smoothly with its Valair triple-disc pulling clutch and Valair transmission hydraulics.
Other fun features of this engine include electric fans from Flex-A-Lite and a Steed Speed second generation manifold. Billet front and rear differential covers were also supplied by Kingspeed. A fabricated intake horn, passenger side battery delete, heavy-duty pushrods and valve springs – all which came with the truck – help the engine maximize its power.
The rest of the parts were manufactured in-house at Full Send Diesel. That includes an upper coolant tube, lower heater hose, brake fluid reservoir cover and billet brake reservoir cap. The shop’s new unreleased traction bar kit and shock tower delete plates were also installed.
With its new 5.9L Cummins engine, Kubinak expects this truck to be capable of around 1,000 horsepower. Again, since this truck is part of a giveaway, its use is still undetermined. However, the lucky winner of this truck can use it for plenty of different activities. Whether it becomes a tow vehicle, a sled puller or a drag racer, this truck will be a fantastic ride regardless, and it will make for quite the street creeper this Halloween.
