Parts Plug's modified Nissan Skyline GT-R speedometer pointer ran out of travel and spun all the way back to the 0 mph mark!
Every marque has a moniker akin to its history and the reason behind its success. From the 911 pushing Porsche to earn its name to the 507 Roadster redefining cards for BMW, to the 600 Pullman earning the name for Mercedes-Benz, there's always a car that once helped a company be where it is today. Introduced in 1957, the Nissan Skyline is one of the most iconic JDM nameplates of all time.
From Need for Speed to blockbuster films like Fast and Furious, the Nissan Skyline has amassed a massive and cult-like following since its introduction. Although the name Skyline existed for ten generations from 1957 to 2007, each Skyline model had its significance in the market. But the R32 Skyline GT-R is the most special car for Nissan because it redefined the brand and earned it a spot in the international market.
As technology has advanced since the R32 Skyline GT-R's inception, so has the creativity of car enthusiasts. The Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R, just like the Porsche 911, is one of the most popular project car models when it comes to customization. Although there are numerous car projects based on the R32 Skyline GT-R, one amazing 1000-hp Godzilla has recently seized attention.
In a recent video posted by AutoTopNL, we have seen the magic exhibited by the 1,000-hp 1991 Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R, and it's all a purist can ask for. All we care about are the wide body kit, the sequential gearbox, the massive performance, and the traditional JDM interior with modern interior amenities.

Now speaking of the most important modification-the engine. The legendary RB26DETT 2.6-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine was enhanced with aftermarket pistons, stronger push-roads, ARP head studs and bolts, a gasket set, a 6boose six-cylinder exhaust manifold, a massive Garret G35-1050 turbocharger with a 60mm Turbosmart wastegate, a Wasp alternator, a PRP trigger kit, and a Link Engine Management ECU to monitor this performance process.
The turbocharged straight-six engine has also been equipped with Walbro x3 Hellcat 525 fuel pumps and ID1700 fuel injectors, a Frenchy Performance Intank Surge Tank, and a Radium RB26DETT fuel rail. The 2.6-liter turbocharged straight-six engine is paired with a PPG six-speed sequential gearbox, which propels all four wheels with the ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system.
With all these performance parts working in tandem, the modified 2.6-liter turbocharged straight-six engine unleashes a brutal 1013.8 horsepower and 710 lb-ft of punch with which this Japanese monster takes a mere 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 62-124 mph (100-200 km/h) and tops out at 192.6 mph (310 km/h), a performance figure serious enough to give chills to some supercars.
Of course, the 180 km/h analog instrument cluster couldn't accommodate the top speed, as mentioned before, so mobile GPS came to the rescue to display the top speed. Not only that, but the massive performance is channeled through a high-performance exhaust, endowing this car with a soulful exhaust note, and Parts Plug UK claims they are working to make this beast meaner.

This 1991 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R is not an ordinary Skyline, and unlike the original production model, this modified R32 Skyline GT-R packs several advanced performance upgrades inside that mediated to better power output and brisk acceleration. In fact, this modified R32 is so powerful that even the speedometer needle ran out of travel and rotated all the way to the 0 mph mark.
According to Parts Plug UK, the 1991 Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R was imported to the UK from Japan in 2007. However, on March 12, 2020, Parts Plug UK purchased it for performance upgrades. Since then, Parts Plug UK has worked tirelessly on this project to make the fastest street-legal model of the R32 Skyline in the UK.
They started this build by dismantling each part, ranging from the exterior to the engine. The BNR32 chassis was further strengthened, and the exterior was recolored with Endless Customs-sourced Gapberry wrap and enhanced with a Veilside wide arch body kit, a set of Image 3p Split Rims, and a bonnet scoop to enable better airflow.
The interior was improved with a Toucan display, a PPG gear indicator, an upgraded infotainment system comprising an audio system, Apple CarPlay, and a Windows 10 user interface. For safety, the interior pillars were strengthened with roll cages and a pair of fire safety sticks.
In fact, the R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R featured an all-wheel-drive system and the RB26DETT twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, which offered a stout 280 horses. This powertrain and all-wheel-drive system were all new to the Skyline GT-R, and what happened after its launch is shocking.
It won the Bathurst 1000 Australian Touring Car Championship in 1991 and 1992, as well as the Japanese Touring Car Championship in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993, earning global recognition and, of course, the name "Godzilla."
Although the R32 was replaced by the R33 Skyline GT-R in 1993, fans just couldn't get over the R32 because it's a timeless piece and has that X-Factor. That said, the R32 Skyline GT-R has earned the Japanese Top Dog JDM status ever since, and with the present restoration trend being the norm these days, the R32 is a JDM that every car enthusiast loves.
